About this Class

Photogrammetry is a really cool technique to create 3d scans of real-world objects by taking pictures from all around them. In this lesson, you are going to learn all the steps necessary to create high-quality photo scans on your own. We are going to use free and open-source Meshroom and Blender software for the whole process. I also demonstrate how to process the scans on a cloud computer and why you might want to do that.

But what exactly is photogrammetry? Photogrammetry is the science and technology of obtaining reliable information about physical objects and the environment through the process of recording, measuring, and interpreting photographic images and patterns of electromagnetic radiation and other phenomena.

Put simply, it is a technology that allows you to mirror a live image to 3D animation through the processes of scanning, recording, and photography.

Currently, drones are also used for photogrammetry, which, thanks to the possibility of scanning the environment, can accurately reflect and generate an image on our computer.

The process is also often expensive and the programs used to use it are quite expensive. However, thanks to programs such as Mashroom or Blender, you can work with photogrammetry for free.
